For me, the scariest moment of the pilot was when Sabrina’s character Maya says “I have no one at home to do my homework with me”, and I think for the network, we’ll point back to it as a really significant moment, because I don’t think any of us – maybe Michael [Jacobs] will say he did know – but I don’t think any of us were sure that when we went and tested the pilot whether kids would respond to that. If you look at most of our shows, there’s some big comedy scene leading into that third act, that’s smart, but also just really funny, and that moment was just emotional. I remember from the testing, there was this deep breath of fresh air when all the kids said their favorite moment was that, ‘cause it was relatable. I would love to have that in every show going forward, ‘cause you never know until you try it, and it’s a big impact moment.
